Annie Davis, PhD
I am a Psychology Associate in the state of Maryland working under the supervision of Dr. Allyson Kett. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families with a range of presenting concerns, including anxiety, trauma, self-regulation difficulties, oppositional/defiant behavior, depression, attention problems, coping with medical conditions, adjustment difficulties, and interpersonal challenges. I meet children and families where they are to address their main concerns in a strengths-based and family-centered manner, working within their cultural values. In treatment, children learn new coping skills and begin to see situations differently, while parents become empowered to assist their children in this process. The treatment I provide is tailored to each client and is primarily cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), integrating components from other modalities including family systems and psychodynamic as indicated. In addition to therapy, I conduct psycho-diagnostic and psycho-educational evaluations to inform treatment and provide recommendations for school and home.
I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Catholic University of America with a concentration in Children, Families, and Cultures. My clinical training included a pre-doctoral internship year at the University of Maryland School of Medicine as well as externships at Children’s National Medical Center and in local schools. Across training experiences, I have developed skills working with children across the age span and with a broad range of presenting problems, while also developing specialties in the treatment of young children and traumatic stress. I have co-authored multiple journal articles and book chapters, and I have presented at national and international conferences. In addition to clinical work, I hold a research position at Georgetown University.
About the Doc outside the office
I live in Baltimore, where I was born and raised. In my free time I try to balance competing desires to be outside and active and to relax with a good book. I enjoy cooking, traveling, hiking, and spending time with loved ones as much as possible. I have always wanted to work with and on behalf of children, and I feel privileged to do so here.
Dr. Davis works at the Linthicum location on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
