Clinton Lewin, PsyD

I am a licensed psychologist in Maryland. I specialize in work with adults experiencing a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, substance use, and identity development issues. I believe that pain is a part of life but that our reactions can turn pain into suffering. I take an integrative approach to therapy with particular emphasis on building insight, experiencing and regulating emotions, and practicing new ways of relating to ourselves and to others. I mainly incorporate psychodynamic approaches (i.e. object relations) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in order to empower you in your pursuit of well-being. I also provide psychological evaluations, including cognitive and personality assessments, in order to inform treatment and provide recommendations.

Professional experience

I have experience in various mental health settings including private practice, university counseling centers, and community mental health centers. I also have a background in substance use, addictive disorders, and recovery. I completed my internship at the University of Maryland Baltimore County Counseling Center and obtained my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University near Chicago, IL. I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for my undergraduate work. I have presented at multiple conferences (including the American Psychological Association, state, and local organizations) regarding applications of mindfulness practice as well as the neuropsychological effects of infectious diseases. I am also passionate about the role of psychology in addressing systemic inequities.

About the doc outside the office

I live in Baltimore County with my significant other and young children. I am a transplant from Chicagoland and enjoy the many outdoor activities Maryland offers. I would call myself a foodie and get much joy from experiencing different cultures in this way. I find it essential to maintain balance amongst the many demands of life and strive to practice what I encourage in my clients. I am very privileged and grateful to do the work I love while supporting my family and contributing to the lives of others!
