Kimberly English, PhD

I am a Psychology Associate in the state of Maryland working under the supervision of Dr. Tana Clarke. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and families with a range of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, family conflict, opposition/defiance, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, trauma, and self-harm behaviors. I employ a strengths-based, integrative approach in treatment and place great emphasis on collaboration throughout the treatment process. I also conduct psychological and psycho-educational evaluations to assist with behavioral, academic, and interpersonal interventions. These evaluations often include cognitive, academic, socioemotional, personality, and diagnostic assessment to help inform treatment and provide recommendations for children and families.

Professional Experience

I focused my training on providing both therapy and assessment services in a variety of medical and mental health settings including children’s hospitals, outpatient clinics within larger medical institutions, university-based clinics, and community mental health centers. I completed my undergraduate work at Boston University with degrees in both Psychology and Deaf Studies and hold a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. Following my time in Boston, I moved to Washington, D.C. to enroll in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at Gallaudet University. During my time at Gallaudet, I enhanced my skills in working with d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, enjoyed working with diverse populations, and earned a Master of Arts along with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I completed my pre-doctoral internship in Houston, Texas at Baylor College of Medicine with a primary Child and Family rotation at DePelchin Children’s Center. Following internship, I honed my skills in trauma-related assessment and treatment at Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress.
