Christina Bowman

I am a board certified general psychiatrist licensed in Maryland. I have experience in performing comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluations as well as providing evidence-based treatments for a wide variety of mental health diagnoses in adolescents (14+) and adults.

Professional Experience

I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland in 2010. I attended medical school at the American University of the Caribbean in Sint Maarten, and completed my clinical rotations at hospitals in New York and Maryland. I completed my psychiatry residency in June 2019 at Kansas University School of Medicine in Wichita, Kansas.

During my residency training, I was nominated and selected for the role of Associate Chief Resident in my second year, a position generally filled by a more senior resident. I later went on to become Chief Resident of the program and served in that role for two years. As Chief, I focused my efforts on resident education which included several research projects whose aim was to identify practice gaps within residency training and to propose curriculum modifications to address these deficiencies. I received the Dean’s Travel Grant for three consecutive years to present several first author posters at annual conferences in San Francisco, San Diego, and New Orleans. I led the development of a new residency rotation in Emergency Psychiatry, and was a resident founding member of the Psychiatry Interest group for medical students at Kansas University School of Medicine. I was honored with several awards during my residency career including the Award for Excellence in both Research and Outpatient care. In my final two years of residency training, I spent time moonlighting at a nearby inpatient psychiatric hospital providing acute psychiatric care.

Life Outside the Office

I was born and grew up in Easton, MD right off the Miles River. After spending a combined eight years living away from this region, my husband and I are happy to be returning to our Maryland roots. I am a new mom as of August 2019, and enjoy spending my non-working hours at home with my son. I enjoy walking the dog with my family, challenging myself with fun yoga inversions, hiking, camping and the occasional long walk on the beach in Rehoboth, Delaware. My philosophy in life is founded in the concept of wellness, and I strive to embody it in my relationships with friends, family, and my patients.
