I am a licensed physical therapist in Maryland. I treat all types of patients from babies to adults with a holistic, whole body, integrative approach. I utilize gentle, hands-on techniques derived from osteopathic concepts that help release years of dysfunction or old trauma in an effort to restore better alignment, reduce muscle tension and spasm, calm the nervous system, enhance energy flow, and support organ function. I am double certified in the Healing from the Core curriculum for distance and in-person sessions as well as having expertise in leading small groups and overview workshops on grounding and healthy boundaries.
I started my career in physical therapy in 2001 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in acute care working with adults and pediatrics and then began working in outpatient settings in 2003. I became interested in manual work of IAHE in 2006, starting with cranial sacral therapy through the Upledger Institute then continuing with neural and visceral manipulation through the Barral Institute. I continue to increase my knowledge and skills through my love of learning, and through continued classes and workshops to improve skills.
I also practice SomatoEmotional Release®(SER), which is a manual therapy process developed by Dr. Upledger that expands on the core principles of CranioSacral Therapy (CST) to help rid the body of the residual effects of past trauma and negative emotional experiences. This helps to support the body to do what it knows how to do best: heal itself. This, in conjunction with psychotherapy and other mental health modalities, can help to address the root causes of anxiety and depression. CST and SER have been experienced as calming to the central nervous system, allowing the body and mind to be stronger and more resilient.
Techniques I utilize include:
- Cranial Sacral Therapy
- SomatoEmotional Release
- Neural Manipulation
- Visceral Manipulation
- Healing from the Core
- Energy Balancing
- Myofascial Release
- Manual therapy, NDT, PNF
- Joint Mobilization
All are welcome in my practice, and work closely with clients who are healing physical and health challenges, as well as those consciously walking their personal paths in body, mind and spirit and seeking to deepen their personal connection within.
