Nathan Leslie

M. Psy., PsyD CandidateEmail »

I am a psychology associate working under the supervision of Dr. Tana Clarke. I have worked in a variety
of settings conducting individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and psychological assessments.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults struggling with a wide range of concerns and conditions. I
have a particular interest in working with adults and adolescents who have been diagnosed with ADHD
and who are on the autism spectrum. I also work frequently with individuals struggling with psychotic
disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have extensive training in a number of
therapeutic approaches, and I tend to work from a psychodynamically-informed integrative approach. I
am very flexible in my clinical style, and I work hard to utilize techniques and interventions which will be
of maximum benefit for the unique problems of every patient I see. I believe deeply in the healing
power of therapy, and I strive to bring care, openness, and deep understanding to the therapeutic

Professional Experience

Though I have a wide variety of experience working with all ages and with many different clinical
concerns, I have specialized in the treatment of adolescents and young adults. I also have a great deal of
experience and in-depth training working with individuals on the autism spectrum, and with other
neuro-biological differences. My original training background is grounded in the science of psychology
and neurobiology. I earned by BS in Applied Psychology from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY, with a minor
in neuroscience. Before beginning my doctoral degree, I worked for two years as a professional
research associate in an advanced neurobiology research laboratory in Boulder, CO. Here, I planned and
conducted cutting-edge research on the neurobiological underpinnings of anxiety, depression, and PTSD
funded by grants from the National Institute of Mental Health, and the Department of Defense. I
earned my M.Psy. at George Washington University, where I am currently a doctoral candidate. At
GWU, I have gained extensive training in psychodynamic theory and practice, and in psychometric
assessment. I have also received training in CBT, ACT, Family Systems, and several other treatment
