Sereta Noell

I am a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) providing individual therapy services to adolescents (10 yo.+) and adults.. Prior to Waypoint Wellness Center, I have worked in school settings, hospital settings and the community, providing individual, family and group therapy. I’m experienced in addressing a range of behavioral, emotional and cognitive concerns/needs, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, coping skills, emotional disturbance, grief, self-esteem/self-worth, and family related issues. I am trained in a variety of treatment techniques to meet the various needs of clients & to aid symptom relief, using  a combination of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Strength-Based Perspective, Trauma-Responsive Practices and incorporate psycho-education.

EMDR can be helpful to incorporate when there are traumatic or highly upsetting experiences/memories from the past which may potentially be influencing present day symptoms and/or feelings of distress. EMDR provides an approach to reprocess these memories & allows the brain & body to move towards healing and with the systematic approach has been known to  help alleviate distress regarding the targeted past memories &  related present day symptoms.

Throughout my whole life I have had a passion for helping others, which is what led me to where I am today. During my career as a social worker, a continuous motivator is the notable resilient nature of people. I view every person as being on their own individual journey and I am honored to have the privilege to walk beside them during part of that journey.

Professional Experience

II obtained my Master of Social Work Degree at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, with a specialization in mental health. My undergraduate work was completed at Salisbury University, where I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Psychology. While in my masters program, I worked for hospice. I developed the skills to be well-versed in grief and bereavement counseling during that time. I worked closely with terminally ill clients and provided therapeutic support to their friends and family members experiencing anticipatory grief, bereavement, and individual grief processes. In 2015, I jointly developed and launched a Health Home Program at Partnership Development Group. This program focuses  on adolescent and adult health and wellness. Through this program, I provided individualized services, aiding and empowering clients to meet their health-related goals and co-led health-based group sessions.

Life Outside the Office

I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends while also balancing things out with some quiet time for myself to watch a favorite show or read. I love animals, being outdoors, and hiking.
