Claire Flynn

Counseling Student

I am a counseling psychology student under the supervision of Dr. Clarke dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and young adults and adults as they navigate their mental health journey. Drawing on compassion, empathy, individualized and genuine commitment to each client’s growth. I am dedicated to creating a warm, fun, nonjudgemental, and safe environment where clients feel heard and understood. I believe that meaningful change happens through connection, shaping my approach into meeting each person where they are, honoring their unique story, and walking alongside them as they build confidence, resilience, and healthier ways of coping. Whether working with a child navigating big emotions or a young adult facing life transitions.

I use an integrative approach to therapy that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic principles to address anxiety disorders, depression, trauma disorders, and other mood disorders. I combine evidence-based interventions with activity and expression in order to help clients explore and understand emotions, increase self-awareness, strengthen resilience, develop coping skills, foster meaningful personal growth, and improve interpersonal effectiveness. I aim to provide thoughtful, client-centered support to every individual and family in my care.

Professional experience

I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Goucher college in 2023 where I was a NCAA student athlete for 4 years. I am currently a student at Bowie State University receiving my master’s degree in counseling psychology. My clinical experience has been gathered from multiple experiences including my role as a Mental Health specialist at a Partial Hospitalization Program for Child & Adolescents, Psychiatric Inpatient in child and young adult units, and case management as a community mental health resource through Waypoint Wellness for 3 years. I also have a background in the administrative side of therapy as I was a part of the intake and billing teams here at Waypoint for 2 years. These experiences have allowed me to work with a variety of individuals, mental health issues, and demographics. In my work within a partial hospitalization program, I provided care and psychoeducation for adolescents and children experiencing mental health challenges and the effects of trauma. My responsibilities included leading group therapy, suicide and self-harm risk evaluations, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and family meetings, while collaborating closely with social workers, therapists, psychiatrists and multidisciplinary treatment teams to support comprehensive care. Working across medical, educational, and inpatient and intensive PHP settings has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. I am committed to providing compassionate, individualized care that supports each client’s growth, resilience, emotional well-being, and overall development.

Outside the office

I grew up in Annapolis, MD and moved to Baltimore city. I enjoy taking my goofy and living pitbull for walk, going to the beach, basketball, spending time outside, and spending time with family and friends. I prioritize practicing gratitude and patience to help keep me grounded in why I chose therapy as my career path with the overall goal to help those in need.

Claire works in our Severna Park office and will also see clients via telehealth. She is not credentialed with insurance; however, she can provide services at a reduced rate if you inquire with our intake team. Her counseling practicum runs from September 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.
