Joelle Fuchs

MS, 2025-26 Doctoral ExternEmail »jfuchs@waypointwellnesscenter.com

I am a Licensed Psychology Associate in Maryland under the supervision of Dr. Nicole Berger and a doctoral extern pursuing my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park. My clinical practice mainly utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach, with elements of mindfulness to support clients. In my academic work, research explores the role that community connectedness and neighborhood social cohesion play on adolescent wellbeing as they transition into adulthood. I endeavor to strengthen the therapeutic capacity of community spaces (libraries, parks, and schools) to promote individual and community healing. Together, my clinical and research practice aim to leverage community and community building skills to build self-efficacy and self-esteem as avenues to address internalizing concerns.

Professional Experience

I received my Master of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Biology from North Carolina State University, with a focus on Social and Biological Determinants of Mental Health.  I have worked with clients forma variety of clinical settings, including the University of Maryland College Park Psychology Clinic, Georgetown MedStar, and the DCPS system.

Life Outside the Office

When I am not working, I like to spend my time discovering new music, exploring the local parks, and creating art in the DMV area.

Joelle starts her psychology externship at Waypoint in August of 2025. She works in the Linthicum location and she also provides telehealth services. She is credentialed with Carefirst insurance.
