Raeshelle Smith

2026-27 Doctoral ExternEmail »RSmith@waypointwellnesscenter.com

I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, DC working under the supervision of Dr. Louisa Flynn. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges while recognizing their strengths and capacity for growth. I strive to create a supportive and collaborative space where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences and working toward meaningful change. My approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and cultural responsiveness. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship can help individuals build insight, develop resilience, and move toward their personal goals. My clinical interests include anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, relationship concerns, identity development, and life transitions. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults from all diverse backgrounds. My research focuses on internalized stigma, shame, and identity reconstruction among individuals with mental health diagnoses. This work reflects my broader interest in understanding how people heal, adapt, and create meaningful change throughout their lives.

Professional Experience

My clinical training has included working with children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient and assessment settings. I have conducted psychological assessments, clinical interviews, and diagnostic evaluations to help better understand each individual’s strengths and areas of concern. Through this work, I have supported clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, attention difficulties, learning challenges, and other social and emotional concerns. In addition to my clinical training, I have experience working in healthcare and client service settings. My experiences have reinforced my commitment to providing thoughtful and evidence-based care that supports each client’s unique goals and overall well-being.

Life Outside the Office

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy traveling, exploring new cultures, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy building LEGO sets, playing with my dog, and tending to my garden. I value opportunities for connection, personal growth, and adventure, and I enjoy activities that help me stay balanced and engaged outside of work.

Raeshelle works in our Annapolis and Severna Park locations and also sees patients via telehealth. She will be credentialed with Carefirst BCBS. Her doctoral externship runs from September 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027.
