Suzanne Linkroum

I am a licensed psychologist in Maryland and have been practicing for over 15 years. I am also a Clinical Director at Waypoint. My clinical focus is the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, relationship/marital issues, adjustment to life transitions, parenting and coping with chronic illnesses. I also have extensive experience administering psychological assessments, including psychoeducational testing, pre-surgical evaluations, and capacity assessments for older adults. I am experienced working with individuals, couples, and families.

Throughout my career, I have worked in multiple settings, including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings, schools, and longterm care/rehabilitative centers. These experiences have given me invaluable perspective about navigating the healthcare and mental health care systems. I strive to provide practical strategies to help alleviate some of the stress that is involved in seeking care for yourself or your loved ones.

My clients have described me as down-to-Earth, practical, straightforward, honest and warm. I strive to understand how my clients are experiencing themselves and the world around them. I am always interested in how my patients are making sense out of the things happening in their lives, and to help them develop strategies for optimizing life satisfaction, self compassion, acceptance, relationships, and overall functioning. I use strategies from cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, and interpersonal therapy to help you meet your treatment goals. I have worked with individuals throughout the lifespan, from 3-months to 109, with my current clinical practice focusing on individuals 13 and older, couples and families.

Professional Experience

I have worked across several medical and mental health settings, including a university community mental health and anxiety clinic, children’s hospitals, and inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric unit, schools, community-based comprehensive care center, and an integrated primary care setting. I have held leadership roles in a multi-site behavioral health clinic embedded within a community care center. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. I completed my Masters and Doctorate at Virginia Commonwealth University, where I focused on clinical child psychology. I completed my clinical internship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and spent three years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Maryland. I served as the Assistant Vice President of a multi-site behavioral health department at a multidisciplinary community clinic serving adults. I have been involved in several research projects, presented at numerous professional conferences, and co-authored published papers.

Life Outside the Office

I grew up in Carroll County, Maryland and still have the pleasure of visiting my parents in my childhood home. As a military wife, I have had the opportunity to live in many areas across the country. However, I am happy that we have settled for good back in Baltimore, where my husband and I live with our two wonderful daughters. Most of my free time is spent galavanting around town with my children. We love bike riding, visiting our local park, spending time with our friends, and relaxing. We also love music and spend a lot of time singing along with Alexa or going to concerts.
