Nicole Berger

PsyD CandidateEmail »drberger@waypointwellnesscenter.com

I am a psychology associate under the supervision of Dr. Allyson Kett. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings and have a range of clinical experience including psychological testing, school psychology, and outpatient psychotherapy. I work with children, parents, and adults of all ages with concerns of anxiety, trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment and life transitions, and marital issues, as well as grief and loss. I employ an integrative approach to mental health, utilizing psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and elements of dialectical behavioral therapy. Within the context of a warm therapeutic relationship, I attempt to balance validation and problem solving with a healthy dose of humor. As a therapist, my goal is to help you get to know yourself — how you got here and how to make real changes toward improvement.

Professional Experience

My clinical experience includes work in hospitals, grade schools, and outpatient clinics. I earned my BA in Psychology from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, and my MSEd and PsyD from Pace University in New York City. Most recently, I worked as a Psychology Intern at St. Barnabas Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ where I gained experience working with individuals with PTSD using Prolonged Exposure therapy. I also worked with parents of young children providing behavioral parent training and facilitated depression and anxiety groups for adolescents and adults, as well as provided individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults with a range of presenting problems. I also have extensive experience treating Selective Mutism with the Child Mind Institute where we used behavioral techniques and worked with parents using PCIT skills.

Life Outside the Office

I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL and am a new resident to the Baltimore area. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, hosting friends for meals, watching cooking shows, reading WWII fiction, and going on long walks — iced coffee in hand. My favorite meal is brunch.

Dr. Berger works in the Linthicum location and provides telehealth services.  She will be accepting Carefirst insurance upon completion of credentialing application.
