I am a Psychology Associate working under the supervision of Dr. Tana Clarke, and I have worked for Maryland Public Schools for almost 20 years, specializing in comprehensive educational programs targeting emotional adjustment in students. These experiences have provided me with intricate knowledge of the special education process, in addition to experience working with children, families, school systems, and private mental health providers. I enjoy collaborating with organizations and teams to help my clients’ mental health needs.

Professional Experience

I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and graduated from Duquesne University with a Masters degree in Education. My education at Duquesne began as a freshman playing football, and although injuries ended my football career, my interest in sports psychology evolved from a student athlete to a mental health professional there. I use all of these perspectives to inform my approach to sports psychology and performance enhancement for academic, athletic, and professional domains. Additional treatment specialties and interests of mine include behavior management and intervention plans for challenging child and adolescent behaviors, functional behavior assessments, strategic planning/goal setting therapies, sleep disturbance, and incorporating exercise and nutrition as it relates to mental health.

I have extensive training and experience providing comprehensive psychological evaluations of children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of clinical concerns, including mood disorders, depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum, obsessive compulsive disorder, PTSD, psychotic disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and other life stressors and challenges. I utilize social-emotional/behavioral and personality assessments including projectives (e.g., Rorschach, Sentence Completion Test, House-Tree-Person Test) and standardized rating scales. I also provide psycho-educational testing for evaluation and identification of learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.

Life Outside the Office

I was born and raised in a former coal mining town not too far from Pittsburgh. While attending Duquesne University as a graduate student, I worked as a strength and conditioning coach for the athletic department. In coordination with coaching staff I worked with 22 Division I sports teams, including men’s and women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, and football. While residing in Pennsylvania, I also coached high school football under multiple highly decorated coaches, coached boys and girls track and field, and served as the general manager for a semi-professional football team.

I currently live with my wife and son in Fairfax County, Virginia.  My wife is a former Maryland resident who immigrated from West Africa when she was a child.  In addition to my psychology related career, I also function as a coach for amateur and professional Muay Thai Kickboxing and MMA fighters at a gym in Washington, DC. In my competition days, I once fought for a championship. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, exercise, drink espresso, listen to hip hop music, cook, and expand my ability to help others.

Scott works in the Annapolis office doing psychological, educational, social-emotional/behavioral/personality, and neuropsychological assessments/testing.  He also does individual, group, and family therapy.
